Box Score Salem, Va. -- Ryan Mayolo (Ashburn, Va.) notched a goal and an assist as Lynchburg College's men's soccer team pulled away in the second half for a 4-0 victory over Penn State-Abington in the Hornets' Roanoke College Kick-Off finale Sunday afternoon.
No. 19-ranked Lynchburg enjoyed its stay at Roanoke's Kerr Stadium over the weekend, scoring seven goals in 180 minutes of soccer.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game began at a quick pace, as the two teams combined for five shots-on-goal in the first 21 minutes. Hornets keeper Dylan McLaurin (Stafford, Va.) kept the Nittany Lions off the scoreboard with four early saves.
- Lynchburg took control of the match in the middle minute of the first half, launching three close-range shots before Collin Kashmer (Halifax, Va.) broke through with a 30th-minute score, assisted by Mayolo. The Hornets had four more shots before the break but couldn't find the back of the net a second time.
- The Hornets' efforts proved more fruitful in the second half. Fredy Flores (Alexandria, Va.) put LC up 2-0 when he headed a Jon Mackey (Leesburg, Va.) corner kick in the 51st minute.
- Mayolo broke through in the 60th minute for the Hornets' third goal. Lynchburg freshman Abibi Osman (Charlottesville, Va.) gathered his first collegiate assist on the sequence.
- Cameron Noonan (Swansboro, N.C.) tacked on the final Hornets goal, converting a 76th-minute penalty kick.
LOOKING AHEAD
Lynchburg returns to Shellenberger Field on Thursday at 7 p.m. to play host to Mary Washington (2-1-1).
