Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team had five student-athletes earn places on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced on Tuesday.
The Hornets that represented the men's soccer team on the CSC Academic All-District Team were
Reid Rouse,
Thomas Viscuso,
Chris Wiley,
Sean DeLorenzo, and
William Casey. To be selected to the CSC Academic All-District teams, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5-or-above. They also must have competed in 90 percent of the program's games played or have started in at least two-thirds of the institution's contests.
Rouse, Viscuso, and Casey all were a part of a remarkable defensive unit this season that ranked eighth in the nation in goals against average (.522 per game) and 13th in the country in shutout percentage (.565 per game). DeLorenzo and Wiley were key pieces of the Lynchburg attack this season that scored the most goals in program history. DeLorenzo led the squad with nine goals while Wiley was close behind in second with seven goals.
