Men's tennis earns key ODAC win vs. Roanoke

Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg College men's tennis team got back on the winning track Thursday with a 7-2 win over Roanoke, earning the Hornets their second Old Dominion Athletic Conference triumph of the season in the process.

No. 1 doubles team of sophomore Juan Borga (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) and freshman Luke Sablik (Vienna, Va.) ground out an 8-6 win for LC's first point as the Hornets took a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match.

Both Borga and Sablik earned wins at singles as well, Borga a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 1 and Sablik a 6-4, 7-5, 10-5 marathon at No. 2.

Sophomore Zack Shane (Falls Church, Va.) won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 singles, and junior Nick Savino (Bristol, Conn.) was victorious at No. 5 in dominating fashion, 6-1, 6-1.

LC's final two points came on Maroons forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

The Hornets (6-9, 2-5 ODAC) will be back in conference action Saturday, April 21 vs. Shenandoah. Additionally, Sunday's men's and women's home matches against Emory & Henry have been moved ahead an hour and will now begin at noon.
