Hampden-Sydney tops men's tennis in ODAC quarterfinal

Hampden-Sydney, Va. -- The Lynchburg College men's tennis season came to an end Wednesday in the quarterfinal round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament with a 5-0 loss to Hampden-Sydney.

Lynchburg battled into tiebreakers in two of the three doubles matches to begin the day, but the Hornets were unable to earn a point in duos play. At No. 2, freshman Luke Sablik (Vienna, Va.) and junior Nick Savino (Bristol, Conn.) fell 9-8 (3) to William Driskill and Levy Young. The No. 3 team of sophomore Juan Borga (Buenos Aires, ARGENTINA) and junior Colton Mullins (Appomattox, Va.) dropped their match, 9-8 (2) to Clark Cummings and Grayson Burns.

The Tigers ended the match quickly in singles play as Cummings and Burns took down Mullins and Savino, respectively, in straight sets.

Sixth-seeded Lynchburg concludes the season with a 9-10 record and the most wins for the men's tennis program at LC since the 2003 season.
