Winchester, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's tennis team evened its season and Old Dominion Athletic Conference records Wednesday afternoon with a 6-3 triumph at Shenandoah.
Lynchburg (8-8, 5-5 ODAC) jumped ahead, 2-1, after doubles play and closed the match out with wins at the Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6 singles flights.
Sophomore Vincent Oliver (Springfield, Va.) and senior Brad Carson (Severna Park, Md.) started the guest team's scoring with an 8-0 win at the third doubles flight, followed quickly at No. 2 by seniors Colton Mullins (Appomattox, Va.) and Bryce Barber (Evington, Va.), who won, 8-2.
Lynchburg dominated the lower two-thirds of singles play, highlighted by 6-0, 6-0 wins by Oliver at No. 5 and sophomore Shawn Ikegami (Kumamoto, JAPAN) at No. 6.
Sophomore Daniel Christian (Jamestown, N.C.) also won handily at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1, and senior Nick Savino (Bristol, Conn.) was victorious, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 4 slot.
Lynchburg's men have won four of their last six ODAC matches and will conclude the regular season next Thursday, April 25, at Randolph-Macon at 3 p.m.
