Box Score Reading Pa. -- The University of Lynchburg field hockey team won, 7-2, on the road against Albright Sunday afternoon at Gene L. Shirk Stadium in Reading, Pa.
The Hornets (2-1) fell behind 1-0 early in the first quarter after an Albright (1-3) penalty stroke goal from Bailey Lehman.
The deficit did not last long, as junior Alexis Brown got the Hornets on the board in the first quarter after she connected on a shot off a penalty corner for a goal. Brown scored again in the second quarter on a pass from junior Maggie Chiappazzi to make the score 2-1 in Lynchburg's favor going into the break.
The Hornets' scoring continued into the second half as freshman Kessa Romero scored an unassisted goal to put Lynchburg up by two. Soon after Romero's goal, junior Jackie Lerro scored after coming up the right side and beat the goalie one-on-one to make the score 4-1 Hornets.
Lynchburg's offensive attack continued as Brittany Claybaugh and Lindsay Riley both scored, increasing the Hornet lead to five.
The Lions would fight back in the fourth quarter after a Lehman goal but it was to no avail as a late Emily Dudley goal sealed the 7-2 win for the Hornets.
