Salem, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg track & field team competed at the Finn Pincus Invitational this weekend and came home with strong finishes and new personal records as senior Reid Sharkey set a new PR in the men's mile and junior LaMaya Lacy set her own PR in the women's 60m hurdles.
On the men's side, Sharkey finished with a time of 4:18.07 besting his previous PR to put him fifth on the all-time top-10 and finishing second overall, just .01 seconds out of first. Sharkey's time is also good for the no.6 best time in the country.
Alex Shadkhoo finished third in the men's 200m dash with a time of 22.62 and in the long jump, junior Julian Douglas jumped 22'3.75" and was first for division III jumpers finishing second overall.
On the women's side, junior LaMaya Lacy set a new personal best with a 9.35 in the prelims of the women's 60m hurdles, giving her the third fastest time in the all-time top-10 and besting her previous time of 9.54. Her new PR puts her in the top-50 nationally.
Sophomore Bailey Casto won the pole vault on Friday afternoon vaulting a new personal best height of 10'11.75". This moves her up to fifth on the all-time list. Senior Sammi Woods, who holds the women's shot put program record, threw for 39'8.75" giving her third a place finish.

The University of Lynchburg track & field team will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1 as the Hornets travel back to Salem, Va. and Roanoke College to compete in the Roanoke Division I Invite.
