Box Score Ashland, Va -- University of Lynchburg women's soccer earned their tenth-straight win Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory over Randolph-Macon.
The 23rd-ranked Hornets got on the board just 4:27 into play. Meghan Lauder set up the scoring play with a pass to Taylor Smith. The senior from Chesapeake, Va. was tripped up and drew a foul within the box. The referee awarded a penalty kick and Amanda Wigboldy stepped up for her second penalty of the season and she buried it.
Smith doubled-up Lynchburg's lead exactly two minutes later. Jade Lecklider started the sequence with a free kick deep in Hornet territory. Lauder ended up on the other end of Lecklider's long kick and played a one-two pass with Averey Wyscarver. Smith took Wyscarver's pass and dribbled a few yards before blasting a 25-yard shot into the upper-90 on the far-side of the goal.
The Hornets took seven more shots in the opening period but went into halftime still leading 2-0.
The game remained scoreless in the second half despite ten more shots from Lynchburg. The Hornets outshot R-MC 18-9. Lecklider and the Hornets grabbed their second-straight shutout. Lecklider made four saves in the contest, bringing her season-save total to 20.
