Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's men's tennis team celebrated Senior Day Sunday with an 8-1 win over Randolph-Macon in the Hornets' regular-season finale.
Lynchburg's men started with a pair of close victories in doubles play. Senior Daniel Christian and sophomore Cooper Brewen teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 2, and graduate student Colton Mullins and senior Vincent Oliver won, 8-6, at the top flight. Lynchburg won by default at No. 3.
In singles play, senior Matthew Manos led off with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5, followed by straight-set victories by Brewen (6-2, 7-5) at No. 3 and Oliver (7-6, 6-3) at No. 4.
Mullins followed with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) win at No. 1, and the Hornets took another point at No. 6 by default to seal the 8-1 win.
Lynchburg finishes the regular season with a 7-3 mark, 6-3 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play, and will carry the fourth seed into the upcoming conference tournament. The Hornets will play host to No. 5-seeded Roanoke on Saturday. The Maroons took the regular-season meeting between the teams on March 21.
