Ferrum, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's tennis secured its first win of the young season and took down Ferrum 7-2.
The Hornets grabbed two wins at the top two flights during doubles play. Colton Mullins, playing in his first match of the season, paired up with Cooper Brewen at No. 1 doubles and won 8-2. Andrew Freeman and Carter McCleary won their second doubles match in a row at No. 2.
In singles action, Freeman earned a win at the first flight and only lost one game. Mullins grinded out a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 2.
After Brewen won in a tiebreak during the set, he took care of business 6-3 in the second set at No. 3. Carter McCleary swept his opponent at the fourth flight, and Christian Kumar won 6-3, 6-0 at the fifth-singles flight.
The Hornets have now beaten Ferrum four-straight times.
Lynchburg (1-1, 1-1 ODAC) takes on Shenandoah at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 5.
