Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- University of Lynchburg's men's tennis team suffered a hard-fought 6-3 loss to Concordia Wisconsin in the Hornets' opening match of Spring Tennis Fest at Hilton Head High School.
The Hornets got off to a good start as Carter McCleary and Levi Vigdorchik won 8-3 at the top doubles flight, but CUW captured points at the other two pairs flights to take a 2-1 lead into singles play.
Vigdorchik won an easy point at No. 1 singles, winning by withdrawal, and Christian Kumar battled to a 7-5, 7-5 victory at the fourth flight, but that's all the Hornets could muster. The Falcons won the other four singles matches in straight sets to take the victory.
Lynchburg (1-3) won't have to wait long to try to get back in the singles column. The Hornets will take on Millikin at the Van der Meer Tennis Center on Hilton Head Island at 9:30 a.m. Monday.
