Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- University of Lynchburg men's tennis took down Carroll (Wis.) on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hornets overcame an early 2-1 deficit after doubles. Levi Vigdorchik and Carter McCleary won 8-4 at the first-doubles flight, but the Pioneers claimed points on the other doubles courts.
Vigdorchik and McCleary both kept up their winning ways and claimed victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Vigdorchik claimed his fourth win at the first-singles flight this season.
Cooper Brewen took care of business at the third-singles flight and won 6-1, 6-2. Christian Kumar won his second match at No. 4 singles in S.C. and only dropped one game.
Nico Thomas lost at the fifth flight despite taking his opponent to a tiebreak in the first set, and Jackson Scott lost at No. 6 singles.
However, the Hornets claimed enough points at the top courts to overtake the Pioneers, 5-4.
The Hornets (2-4, 1-2 ODAC) look to win back-to-back matches for the first time this season when they take on Greenville University at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 17. Lynchburg's match with St. Mary's (Md.) scheduled for Friday, Mar. 18 has been canceled.
