Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg baseball dropped its first home game of the season Friday night.
After conceding a run in the first, the Hornets quickly responded in the bottom of the frame. Garrett Jackson reached base with a loud double to right, and Avery Neaves and PJ Alvanos loaded the bases with walks. Gavin Collins singled Jackson and Neaves home. Collins has eight hits since Mar. 13 with five RBI.
Wesley Arrington got the start on the mound and pitched five innings with six Ks. Tufts tagged him for seven runs, but only one was earned.
Neaves slugged his fourth home run in the bottom of the fifth to pull Lynchburg within three.
After Tufts scored two more in the top of the sixth, Logan Webster grabbed an RBI. However, Tufts blew the game open in the seventh and eighth with a combined five runs.
Trailing 13-4, Lynchburg got one more run in the ninth. After Eric Hiett recorded his first-career hit, Jackson cashed him in with a single. Neaves tallied his third hit of the day, but Lynchburg could not recreate Tuesday's walk-off magic and lost 13-5.
