Box Score Salem, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's soccer played to its third draw of the season Sunday afternoon against Albion.
The Hornets went scoreless for the second-straight game in Salem, but the defense held strong to preserve the shutout. Junior goalkeeper Jade Lecklider saved a penalty kick in the second half and made two saves overall for her third shutout of the season. She owns a .909 save percentage through four matches.
Lecklider did not have to stop any shots in the first half as the Hornets outshot the Britons 6-0 in the opening 45.
Late in the half, Savannah Harper took two shots on frame, but Romee Natschke made a pair of saves for the Britons.
Lynchburg continued to outshoot Albion after halftime. However, Albion set up for the biggest scoring threat of the afternoon in the 55th minute. After a foul in the box, Megan Loney set up for a penalty kick, but Lecklider squashed the threat and made the save. Lecklider made another save on a shot from Loney with five minutes left to keep the match tied.
Lynchburg is now on 1-0-3 on the season. With the tie, Lynchburg owns its most ties in a season since drawing three times through 26 matches in 2018.
After playing two-straight matches on Roanoke's field, the Hornets host the Maroons in a nonconference tilt on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
