Box Score Wise, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's tennis lost 6-1 to UVa-Wise on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman Dan Hardy tallied the only point for the Hornets with an 8-5 win at the sixth-singles flight for his first-career win.
Despite the loss, the Hornets played a few close matches. At No. 1, second-team All-ODAC winner Levi Vigdorchik dropped the first set and narrowly dropped the second 7-6 (6). Emile Paindavoine also lost out to a tiebreak in the second set at No. 3. After losing the first set, Christian Zepeda won the second 7-5 at the fifth flight. However, he lost out in a tiebreak during the decisive third set.
In doubles action, Vigdorchik teamed up with Lauren Muhlhause for a 7-6 (5) victory at the first flight. However, the Cavaliers earned the doubles point with wins over Lynchburg's second and third doubles teams.
Lynchburg (1-0) wraps up its fall schedule with the ITA Southeast Regional Championship beginning Friday, Sept. 30.
