Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg field hockey team shut down EMU on Saturday to kick off the University's homecoming festivities.
Eight different Hornets caged goals in the 10-0 win beginning 42 seconds into play with Brooke Hyland. Aaryn Boatwright assisted on the play.
Boatwright scored two goals of her own before the first quarter expired. Sydney Metz assisted Boatwright's second goal. Metz also had a multipoint-first quarter in her third-career start. She scored her first goal since 2021 on an assist from Khanyisile Mzizi.
Kessa Romero rounded out the six-goal quarter with her fourth goal of the season.
Lynchburg only scored once in the second quarter coming from Madison Mark.
Kayla Brady made way for Samira Gharavi in the second half, but neither goalkeeper faced a shot. Lynchburg outshot EMU 50-0. The Hornets registered their most shots since firing 63 against Ferrum in 2019.
Sydney Rowe poured in an assist and a goal in the second half, Aurora Balsamo got back in the scoring column, Lauren Mark joined her sister as a goal-scorer, and Hyland bookended the day with her second goal of the game.
Lynchburg (15-2, 7-0 ODAC) finished up its home schedule with a 7-1 record on Shellenberger Field, and will take on Sweet Briar at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
