Box Score Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team kept their home win streak alive with a walk-off win over William Peace Thursday afternoon.
The Hornets broke open the scoring with two runs in the 1st inning. Avery Neaves drove leadoff batter Brandon Garcia home with his fifth double of the season.
William Peace answered with three runs in the top of the 3rd inning knotting the game at three.
Freshman Sean Pokorak lead off the bottom of the 3rd with his first career homer. This solo blast retook the lead for Lynchburg 4-3.
The Pacers' offense remained in-stride with Lynchburg tallying two runs in the top of the 7th taking the lead 6-5.
Cameron Lane reached base with a one-out single in the bottom of the 7th setting the plate for Benton Jones. Jones barreled a ball that one-hopped the wall in right scoring Lane. Jones reached third on the hit but was stranded and the score remained tied at six.
Jones lead off the bottom of the 9th inning with his second triple of the day, one hopping the wall in right-center. The freshman has eleven extra-base hits on the season including four homers. With two outs, Jones came home to score on a wild pitch and secured the walkoff win over the Pacers 7-6.
Six different Hornets took the mound for Lynchburg in the win, including scoreless appearances from Mason McDowell, Baylor Cumbea, and Alex Gianascoli. Gianascoli's scoreless 9th inning earned himself his first career win.
Lynchburg (28-4, 15-2 ODAC) will take on No. 3 Shenandoah in a decisive double-header on the road this Sunday, April 23.
