Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team beat Ferrum 7-0 on Monday afternoon.
The Hornets swept doubles play only dropping three games. Ashley Hair and Emma Pinola won 8-1 at No. 1, Jordan Ottaviano and Elizabeth Horine won 8-2 at No. 2, and Sarah Wood and Reese McAtee swept their opponents on the third court.
In singles action, the Hornets still seldom dropped a game. In fact, Hair swept her opponent at the top-singles flight, and Ottaviano and Pinola both had a set where their opponents did not win a game. Pinola won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, and Ottaviano won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4.
McAtee won 6-3, 6-1 on the third court and is now 2-0 at No. 3.
Horine and Wood were slated to play at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively, but their matches never started as Lynchburg clinched singles play with four wins.
The Hornets (2-1, 1-1 ODAC) play their first road match of the season on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. in Danville, Va. against the Cougars of Averett.
