Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's tennis team won its third straight match Wednesday afternoon, downing Ferrum 8-0. 

The Hornets are off to their best start since 2021 when they also won three matches to begin the season. However, different than three seasons ago, the Hornets have not dropped a match yet in singles or doubles action. Every win so far has seen Lynchburg blank its opponents. 

Tuesday was no different as the Hornets opened up the day with a dominant showing in doubles play. Levi Vigdorchik and Alex Rintoul won 8-0 at No. 1, Shadi Kallel and Dan Hardy won 8-1 at No. 2, and Chrsitian Zepeda and Patricio Zepeda won 8-0 at No. 3. The Zepeda brothers only conceded two points to their Panther counterparts. 

In singles action, Rintoul made quick work of his opponent on the fourth court winning 6-0, 6-1. Hardy was the next to finish as he completed a sweep of his No. 3 opponent. Kallel won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, Vigdorchik battled to a 6-3, 6-1 victory on the first court, and Christian Zepeda finished the match with an 8-0 victory at No. 5. 

The Hornets (3-0, 2-0 ODAC) are off to Dabville, Va. on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. for a matchup with Averett. The Hornets lost their first conference matchup with the Cougars last season. Before that, the last time the two teams squared off was over 10 years ago when the Hornets won 5-1 in 2013.
