Roanoke, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team used 12 scorers to cruise past Hollins 72-33 on Saturday afternoon.
Sammi Sever led the way with 10, and the 39-point win was Lynchburg's largest margin of victory since downing Wilson by 58 with a program-record 104 points scored.
Sever scored seven of her points in the first quarter, and the Hornets jumped on top of Hollins by 10 after 10 minutes of play. She reached double-figures with a 3-pointer early in the third quarter to put the Hornets up 46-22.
The Hornets shot 11-27 from the 3-point line, and their 40.7% mark from deep gives them five games with at least a 40% clip from deep. The Hornets shot 50% from beyond the arc twice on the season against Wilson and Averett.
Brandstatter didn't make a 3, but she scored nine points and had her second game of the season with double-digit rebounds. Olivia Harris and Ashley Vandergrift also scored nine points in the contest. Vandergrift put up all nine of her points in the fourth quarter, all on 3s, and the Hornets closed out Hollins by holding the Green & Gold to single-digits in the quarter for the third time in the game. Lynchburg's defense averaged 8.25 points allowed per quarter.
Lynchburg (12-9, 7-7 ODAC) hosts Ferrum on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. and will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day.
