Harrisonburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg softball team split a road double-header with EMU on Saturday.
In a 3-1 victory to start the day, the Hornets faced a one-run deficit headed into the sixth inning. Kailey Dorcsis, who earned the win and pitched all seventh inning, struck out five and only allowed four hits. Her only blemish was a run in the bottom of the fifth off a bunt.
The Hornets scored all three of their runs in the sixth beginning with a two-RBI triple from Carly Hudnall. Kaleigh Hackett tacked on the insurance with an RBI groundout scoring Hudnall. Half of Lynchburg's four hits on the day came in that three-run sixth.
While the Hornets struck first in Game 2, EMU got to Logan Curtis in the third for a trip of runs, then won by run rule in the fifth after scoring seven against three different Hornet pitchers.
Lynchburg (18-8, 6-4 ODAC) hosts Shenandoah for a double-header on Sunday, April 7.
