Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg softball team swept Shenandoah 2-0 and 4-2 on Sunday.
Game 1 followed a similar script to Saturday's opener for the Hornets with Kailey Dorcsis getting late run support in a win. The notable differences were that Dorcsis pitched a shutout (her third of the season) and struck out a career-high 11 batters.
In Game 2, the Hornets got another complete game from their starter, but Emily Charlton did give up a run in the top of the first to Shenandoah. The visitors bookended their chances at the plate with another score in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Charlton only allowed four hits in innings two-through-six and struck out two.
Lynchburg's scoring all came in the fourth inning capitalized by a three-run pinch-hit blast from Haley Martin. She belted her first-career homer to straight-away center field and also had a pinch-hit RBI in Game 1.
Lynchburg (20-8, 8-4 ODAC) visits Randolph for a pair on Wednesday, April 10 beginning at 2 p.m.
