Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's tennis team fell to Virginia Wesleyan 1-8 Saturday afternoon. This marks their first ODAC loss of the season.
Lynchburg surrendered all three matches in doubles action. The duo of Levi Vigdorchik and Alex Rintoul fell at No. 1 doubles 6-8. At No. 2 doubles, Dan Hardy and Sebastian Sierra saw the same fate. At No. 3 doubles, Shadi Kallel and Patricio Zepeda fell 0-8 to the Marlins' Tudor Vlad and Sebastien Muller.
In singles play, Sierra fell at No. 3 singles 0-6, 3-6. Moments after, Rintoul completed his match at No. 4 singles, falling 3-6, 0-6. Patricio Zepeda lost at No. 5 singles 2-6, 1-6. Kallel fell at No. 2 singles 0-6, 3-6. To close the match, Vigdorchik won the only match of the day for Lynchburg at No. 1 singles. After winning the first set 6-4, he surrendered the second set 3-6. In the third set tiebreak, he defeated Virginia Wesleyan's Felix Bevc 11-9. Christian Zepeda played a shortened eight game match at No. 6 singles, losing 1-8.
Lynchburg (8-2, 3-1 ODAC) resumes ODAC play in Danville against Averett on Wednesday, Apr. 10.Â
