Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team returned home to face ODAC foe Bridgewater and fell, 67-37, on Saturday night inside Turner Gymnasium.
The Hornets (6-10, 3-6) dropped their fourth consecutive contest tonight to a strong Eagles side that is receiving votes in the top 25 national poll. Lynchburg kept it close in the first period, taking the lead on three occasions, but Bridgewater strung together 15 straight point at the end of the first quarter and into the second that put them ahead, 23-10, with 6:09 left in the first half. From then on, the Eagles did not trail for the remainder of the contest.Â
Senior guard
Olivia Harris scored a team-leading 15 points, her eighth game this season scoring in double-figures. Freshman guard
Audra Petty tallied nine points and made three-of-seven from beyond the arc. Junior guard
Brooke Cason swiped two steals for her eighth outing this year with multiple steals.Â
Jasmine Griffin scored a game-best 16 point for Bridgewater, making five-of-seven from the field and four-of-six from the charity stripe. Jaden Alsberry, Jay Garcia and Riley Corcoran each contributed 11 points apiece. Garcia swatted four shots to tie her season-high four blocks.
Lynchburg stays at home for its next matchup when Roanoke visits Turner Gym on Wednesday, January 29 at 7 p.m.
