Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team carries a five-match unbeaten streak into this weekend's road contest at Randolph-Macon, slated to kick off on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 4:00 p.m. from Nunnally Field.
Through four games in Old Dominion Athletic Conference play, neither team has suffered a defeat or conceded a goal to its opponent. Randolph-Macon occupies second place in the ODAC standings, achieving all 12 possible points with four victories. The Hornets sit closely behind in third.
Lynchburg enters Saturday with an 8-1-2 overall record and 3-0-1 ODAC mark, coming off a physical 0-0 draw against Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday. The Hornets' lone loss of the season arrived on Sunday, Sept. 21, when Lynchburg fell 6-1 to No. 2 Emory.
Following Saturday's match, the Hornets will return to Shellenberger Field for two highly anticipated matchups. Lynchburg hosts Shenandoah for its Code Red game on Tuesday, Oct. 14, while Washington & Lee visits the Hill City on Saturday, Oct. 18 for Homecoming.
Kate Shepherd leads the ODAC with five clean sheets, while the team has posted eight shutouts in 2025. Within the past four matches, Lynchburg has strung together 272 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal.
Randolph-Macon enters Saturday with a 6-4-2 overall record and a flawless 4-0 start to ODAC play. Through 12 matches, the team's 40 goals lead the ODAC and rank 16th in Division III. The Yellow Jackets also rank 12th in DIII for assists per game, recording 33 total to average 2.75 per contest.
Last time out, Randolph-Macon toppled Guilford in 2-0 fashion at the Quakers' Armfield Athletic Center. In the team's four ODAC victories, the Yellow Jackets have outscored their opponents 34-0.
Yellow Jackets forward Ally Spangler tied Morgan Oliver's ODAC lead by tallying her eighth goal of the season versus Guilford. The senior also leads the conference with seven assists, while teammate Ariel Farmer recently accelerated into second place with six.
Randolph-Macon is led by first-year head coach Patrick Corbett, who served as an assistant at Dickinson College for four years before arriving in Ashland, Va. Corbett worked under Virginia Wesleyan head coach Jeff Bowers as an assistant from 2018 to 2020.
Despite close competitions in recent seasons, Lynchburg has historically dominated the series with a 31-3-1 advantage. Last season, Lynchburg allowed a goal in the opening minute of play, though the Hornets stormed back to attain a comfortable 4-1 victory.Â
Coach Todd Olsen's team captured 24 consecutive wins over the Yellow Jackets from 1999 to 2017. Lynchburg boasts a 9-2-1 road record against Randolph-Macon in matches since 1999.
