Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team begins its two-game home stand on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 6:00 p.m. against Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Shenandoah for the Hornets' 2025 Code Red affair.
Hornet fans are encouraged to sport their Lynchburg red and pack the track for Tuesday evening's affair. The match is the first of two Code Red events this week, as Lynchburg's field hockey team faces Randolph-Macon on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m.
Lynchburg enters Tuesday evening boasting an 8-2-2 overall record on the heels of a narrow 2-1 defeat at Randolph-Macon on Saturday. The Hornets own a 3-0-1 record at Shellenberger Field this season and have not conceded a goal on their home turf.
Between 16 total meetings, Lynchburg dominates the all-time series with a 14-1-1 record. The hometown Hornets boast four consecutive victories over Shenandoah, and in the past three clashes, Lynchburg earned the win by a single goal.
Lynchburg keeper Kate Shepherd leads the ODAC with five shutouts in 2025, while midfielder Morgan Oliver occupies second in the conference for goals with eight. The Hornets sit 23rd in Division III with a 0.667 shutout percentage, having submitted clean sheets in eight of their 12 games.
Shenandoah visits the Hill City with a 5-6-3 overall record and 3-2 ODAC mark. The Hornets have encountered four ranked opponents to begin the season; while Shenandoah owns a 0-1-3 record in these games, the team scored in three of the matches and lost by a single goal in two.
McKenna Newcome leads the team with seven goals and four assists for 18 points. Newcome boasts Third Team All-ODAC honors from the 2024 season, when she netted eight goals to pair with four assists. The sophomore averages over five shots per game, which is 13th in DIII.
Each of Shenandoah's five wins featured multiple goals tallied by the Hornets and resulted in a shutout. Eight players on the roster have scored multiple goals in the 2025 campaign.
Shenandoah's last two matches include a 2-0 victory versus Bridgewater and a dominant 8-0 win against Hollins. The opposing Hornets return to town on Saturday, Oct. 18 to face Randolph, while Lynchburg will host Washington & Lee for Homecoming Weekend.
