Forest, Va. -- Following a career-high scoring performance this past week, sophomore guard
Audra Petty was selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
In a comeback victory over William Peace, Petty helped the Hornets return from a 14-point deficit in the first half to a seven-point triumph. The guard finished with a collegiate-best 28 points on 10-of-22 field goals, including four-of-nine from 3-point range. She added nine rebounds and and dished out an assist in the win.Â
The Randleman, N.C. product followed her 28-point night with 21 points against Washington and Lee this past Saturday. Her offensive performance marked the third game of five contests this season in which she totaled over 20 points. In 28 minutes of action, she netted nine-of-20 shots and dished out an assist. She now averages a team-high 18.8 points per game this season.
Petty becomes the first Lynchburg women's basketball student-athlete to earn a conference player of the week accolade since Kate Kolb on Jan. 31, 2022. The Hornets will take their 4-1 record into a home bout against Meredith after Thanksgiving on Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m.
