Women's Basketball Slots In Seventh In ODAC Preseason Poll

Forest, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's basketball team was selected as the seventh-ranked team in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

After finishing the 2024-25 season ninth in the conference standings, the Hornets find themselves in the middle of the conference in the eyes of the league coaches heading into the new season. Atop the rankings was Washington and Lee with 120 points and 10 first-place votes. The reigning ODAC champion Randolp-Macon claimed second in the poll with 108 points and two first-place votes. In the D3hoops.com national preseason poll, the Generals were ranked No. 6 while the Yellow Jackets were selected No. 21.

Bridgewater was a close third to RMC with 102 total points, while Roanoke (91 points) and Shenandoah (74 points) rounded out the top five squads. Last season, the Hornets concluded their campaign with a 10-14 overall record and 6-10 record in conference play, winning three of their last four outings. Although Lynchburg loses their top scorer from last year in Olivia Harris, who finished her collegiate career inside the top 10 in points in program history, the Hornets bring in seven newcomers and return key pieces Bree Spainhour, Audra Petty, Kate Littlejohn, Brooke Cason, and more.

Lynchburg will open its season at home against Marymount this weekend on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 4 p.m. To view the complete 2025-26 the women's basketball schedule, click here.
