Norfolk, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's tennis team opened the spring season at Norfolk State and fell, 0-7, on Saturday night.
Lynchburg fell in all three doubles matches, dropping the doubles point. The freshman duo of Luca Morbioli and Timothee Depaquit were bageled by Norfolk State's Jakub Solarski and Deniz Okyay. Sebastian Soria and Jorge Patricio Zepeda fell 2-6 on court two to Boris Lunin and Frederick McRae. Sebastian Sierra and Alex Rintoul were bested by Michele Elia and Luka Cvjetkovic 3-6.
Lynchburg dropped all six singles matches. Morbioli dropped both sets 2-6, 4-6 on the top court to Solarski. Soria faced Okyay at #2 singles and was breadsticked in both sets. Sierra fell to McRae 0-6, 1-6 on court three. Rintoul was bested by Boris Lunin 4-6, 1-6 at the fourth flight. Depaquit faced Elia and dropped both sets on court five 3-6. Zepeda dropped his match against Cvjetkovic at #6 singles 2-6, 1-6.
The Hornets will open their home campaign against William Peace on Saturday, Feb. 22.
