Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg men's volleyball team picked up a win on their home floor, taking down Regent in a three-set sweep.
Nick Redding recorded a game-high 11 kills along with an ace and four blocks.
Bryce Jackson contributed eight kills and a team-high five blocks.
Jeremiah Costello and
Heath Atkins each tallied four aces, helping Lynchburg record the second most in a match this season (10).
In the opening frame, the two sides traded points back and forth. However, a 7-2 run by the Hornets gave them a solid advantage that they turned into momentum to cruise to a 25-19 win. In the second set, Lynchburg played a dominant brand of ball. Towards the midway mark of the frame, the Hornets rattled off a 10-1 run to create significant separation between them and the Royals. Lynchburg would go on to win the second set 25-13.
With a sweep in sight, Lynchburg opened up the third set with an 8-2 lead. The Royals battled back to keep the contest competitive, but Lynchburg's offense was ultimately too much. In the final frame, Lynchburg finished with their best attacking percentage of the day hitting 35.3%. The Hornets claimed a 25-20 victory for their third consecutive win in three sets.
In their next contest, the Hornets will welcome Randolph to Turner Gymnasium for a Code Red contest on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m.
