Winchester, Va. -- The Lynchburg women's lacrosse team suffered a 15–6 ODAC road loss to Shenandoah on Saturday afternoon.
Neely Morris and Mya Hausaur led the way offensively for the Hornets, each tallying two goals. On the defensive side, Meredith Bornholdt stood out with five ground balls and three caused turnovers, anchoring Lynchburg's back line in a tough matchup.
The first quarter saw fairly even possession, with both teams getting five shots on goal. Lynchburg held a slight edge in total shots, 8–7, but a strong start from Shenandoah goalkeeper Madison Perry helped the hosts jump out to a 5–1 lead through the opening frame.
Lynchburg cut into the deficit early in the second quarter, but Shenandoah quickly responded with a scoring run of its own to maintain a 7–3 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Shenandoah began to pull away behind a smothering defensive effort, forcing 11 turnovers over the final 30 minutes. Lynchburg was held scoreless in the third quarter, while Shenandoah added a pair of goals to stretch its lead.
The Hornets from Winchester sealed the win with four straight goals in the fourth quarter.
Lynchburg drops to 11–4 overall and 5–3 in ODAC play. The team returns home to face No. 17 Roanoke (8–5) on Wednesday, April 16, for its final regular-season home game.
