Lynchburg, Va. – The University of Lynchburg outdoor track & field squads utilized the final regular-season weekend to solidify conference marks and improve seeding at the WildCat Invitational and Virginia Challenge.
On Friday, Lynchburg hosted the javelin events across town at Moon Field for the WildCat Invitational. The men's side featured two athletes in the top ten, with Jacob Hodnett clinching second place with a 163' 10" (49.95m) mark. After making his javelin debut earlier this season, the senior now sits second in the conference heading into the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships.
Jeremiah Glaspie earned fifth for the men with a 146' 2" (44.57m) throw.
In the men's 110m hurdles, Micah Leech crossed the line in second place with a 15.61 finish. Glaspie clocked 16.52 for sixth in the field.
Margo Fox clinched a new personal best in the women's 100m hurdles, finishing seventh with a 15.98 performance. Fox, a heptathlete, knocked 85 hundredths off her recent 100m hurdles time at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic.
Daven Lacayo finished fourth in the men's 100m dash with an 11.36 performance. Additional top-five results for the sprints team include Anna Miller's 400m hurdles performance (1:09.72 for third) and James Young in the men's 200m dash (22.52 PR for fifth).
Though most distance athletes decided to rest this weekend, Jonas Rush clocked 4:06.10 for a nine-second personal best in the men's 1500m, finishing fourth.
To jump-start field events, the pole vault squad placed five athletes inside the top five between the men's and women's teams. Allison Bobst led the women with a first-place 11' 5¾" (3.50m) vault and season-best. Cameron Weber set a personal best by vaulting 10' 11¾" (3.35m) for second place, and Alyssa Tonetti solidified a 9' 6¼" (2.90m) mark for fourth.
Julian Powell finished second in the men's field and set a 13' 9¼" (4.20m) mark for second place. Micah Leech placed third, filing behind with a 13' 3½" (4.05m) vault.
Elijah Rose won the men's high jump with a season-best 6' 4¾" (1.95m) leap. In the men's triple jump, Jeremiah Glaspie earned third with a 43' 4¼" (13.21m) mark and fifth in the men's long jump (20' 9¼" or 6.33m). Ty Mauer finished one spot ahead in the men's long jump for fourth, setting a 21' 1½" (6.44m) mark.
Margo Fox paired her successful day in the hurdles with a 17' 11" (5.46m) performance in the women's long jump. Kiara Fox finished in fifth (16' 7½" or 5.06m). To wrap up top-five finishes, Andy McCormick placed fifth in the men's discus, hurling for a distance of 121' 11" or 37.18m.Â
At the UVA Challenge, the women's 4x100m relay team competed against DI competitors and clocked 48.43. The team's season best remains 48.29 and sits third in the conference heading to the outdoor championships.
Kacey Kelly competed in the women's javelin, finishing in 22nd with a 124' 11" (38.07m) throw. In the men's high jump, Jamarcus Brown tied for ninth at the 6' 7" (2.01m) bar.
The Hornets now set their sights on the 2025 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Eastern Mennonite University on Friday, Apr. 25 and Saturday, Apr. 26.
