Salem, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's tennis team won against Roanoke 4-3 Wednesday afternoon.
The Hornets, boasting a readjusted doubles lineup, took all three matches to claim the doubles point. Freshman Luca Morbioli and junior Jorge Patricio Zepeda took a 6-1 victory at the top flight. Junior Alex Rintoul and sophomore Sebastian Soria also breadsticked their opponent on court two. Freshman Timothee Depaquit and junior Sebastian Sierra took a 6-3 victory on the bottom doubles court.
In singles play, the Hornets won three matches. Morbioli won both sets 6-3 at the top seed. Soria, playing on court two, lost in a tight three set battle. Sierra won 7-5, 6-1 at the three spot. Rintoul won his match 6-3, 6-2 on court four. Depaquit took the first set 6-3, but dropped the second set 1-6, and lost in the tiebreak 2-10. Zepeda fell 4-6, 5-7 on the bottom singles court.
The Hornets (8-4, 3-4 ODAC) face Shenandoah on Friday, Apr. 18 at 4 p.m.
