Salem, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg women's tennis team won against Roanoke 6-1 Wednesday afternoon.
The Hornets took all three doubles matches with new pairings on all three courts. Graduate student Maria Caro and freshman Kayla Kosiorek won 7-5 at the top flight. Freshman Harper Dodd and junior Reese McAtee took a 6-2 victory on court two. Junior Ashley Hair and senior Elora Grochowski breadsticked their opponents on the bottom doubles court.
At the top seed in singles, Caro crushed her opponent in a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Kosiorek bageled her opponent in both sets. Hair won her match 6-3, 6-2 on court three. Dodd dropped her match 0-6, 2-6. McAtee, playing on the penultimate court, won both sets 6-4. Grochowski dropped her first set 4-6, but breadsticked her opponent in the second set, and won the tiebreak 10-1.
The Hornets (8-5, 5-4 ODAC) face a nationally ranked #32 Washington and Lee on Friday, Apr. 25 at 3 p.m.
