Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg baseball team had five student-athletes tabbed as All-Region honorees by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and two performers appointed as D3Baseball.com All-Region selections, announced on Tuesday afternoon. For both the ABCA/Rawlings and D3Baseball.com All-Region Teams, Lynchburg is a part of Region 6.

Along with the numerous All-Region honors for the Hornets, Tyler Kaltreider was named the Region 6 Pitcher of the Year by the ABCA and head coach Travis Beazley was proclaimed the D3Baseball.com Region 6 Coach of the Year.

Kaltreider, the 2025 ODAC Pitcher of the Year, earned a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team and the D3Baseball.com All-Region Second Team. Kaltreider had a spectacular season and finished the year 13th in the nation in strikeouts with 95 total and in strikeout-to-walk ratio with a 7.31 rate. He had the best mark for WHIP (1.05) and walks allowed per nine innings (1.20) in the ODAC. The Warrenton, Va. product concluded the year with a 2.68 ERA.

Nick Mattfield was selected as an ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Teamer and D3Baseball.com All-Region Third Teamer. Through 71.1 innings pitched, he allowed 56 hits and struck out 58 batters. He finished the season with eight victories, tied with Kaltreider for the most in the conference this year. He was a headlining member of Lynchburg's pitching core that ranked seventh in the country in ERA at 3.40 and eighth across division III in WHIP with a 1.29 mark. Individually, Mattfield finished with a 3.15 ERA and allowed a batting average of .217.

Other Lynchburg members of the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team included Benton Jones and Colin McGuire. Jones was walked a total of 60 times this season, more than any other player in DIII in the country. His on base percentage was 15th-best in the nation at .548 percent. He finished the season with a .373 batting average, 21 extra base hits - including three home runs - and was 12th in DIII with six triples. McGuire, a relief arm for the spectacular pitching unit, tallied nine total saves on the year, the third-best mark across all of division III. The sophomore tallied 40 strikeouts in 48.2 innings pitched. Additionally, he made 24 appearances this season, which was the sixth-most across division III.

Joe Munitz was award ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Third Team honors. He concluded the year with the second-most walks in DIII at 51. Munitz batted at a .360 clip and scored the 24th-most runs in the nation with 60 on the year. He led the team with 48 RBI, the fourth-highest mark in the ODAC.

Coach Beazley led his group to a whopping 41 total wins, the second-most in Lynchburg history. Aside from the preseason rankings, the Hornets ranked top 5 or better on the D3Baseball.com rankings throughout the entire season, reaching as high as #2 in back-to-back weeks. Beazley led the baseball crew to its third consecutive ODAC championship title and fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
