Austin, Texas -- Benton Jones of the University of Lynchburg baseball team was selected as a 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American, announced by the CSC committee on Tuesday.

The junior infielder made his mark on the field and in the classroom to be the second honoree on the Academic All-American team in program history, earning a spot on the Second Team. To qualify for the Academic All-American team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5-or-better and have significant athletic contributions. 

Along with consistently appearing on the Dean's List, Jones continuously produces outstanding seasons on the field. This year at the plate, he was walked more than any student-athlete across division III and averaged the fourth-most walks per game across all NCAA divisions with 1.20 per outing. His .548 on base percentage was 15th-best in DIII. He concluded the season with a .373 batting average and 21 extra base hits. He tallied three home runs and was 12th in division III with six triples.

Jones' Academic All-American nod follows multiple accolades at the state and regional levels. The Durham, N.C. product was named a VaSID All-State Second Teamer and a member of the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team. Throughout his collegiate career, he has been named to All-ODAC teams three times and was the 2023 VaSID All-State Rookie of the Year.
