Lynchburg, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hornets stayed in the win column, clinching their 15th victory of the season and eighth straight sweep with a 3-0 win over the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
The Hornets controlled the match from start to finish, doubling up the Panthers in kills (40-20) while hitting an efficient .289 as a team. Lynchburg also held decisive advantages in service aces (8-3), assists (34-16), and digs (47-36), while adding five blocks to complete the sweep.
Kate Hardie led the offensive charge with nine kills, while Tori Williamson and Leah DiNardo chipped in seven apiece. Setter Alexis Scipione paced the attack with 17 assists, followed closely by Jaina Leek with 14.
Defensively, Kailey Keough anchored the back row with a team-high 14 digs, while Williamson added 10. At the net, DiNardo, Williamson, and Hardie each recorded two blocks.
In the opening set, Lynchburg held Pitt-Bradford to just two kills and forced five attacking errors, cruising to a 25-16 win to start the day.
The Hornets carried their momentum into the second, putting together their best offensive frame of the match with 15 kills against just two errors to hit .376 and take the set 25-17.
The final set proved the most competitive of the afternoon. Tied at 18-18, Lynchburg closed strong with a 7-2 run to secure its eighth sweep of the season, finishing 25-20.
With the win, the Hornets improve to 15-1 on the season and now turn their attention to a crucial conference matchup on the road at No. 23 Virginia Wesleyan (16-0) on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
