Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's soccer team is set for a weekend swing on the eastern shore of Maryland when it takes on Salibury on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 5 p.m. and St. Mary's on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m.
The Hornets (1-0-1) are coming off a solid showing in Tennessee, taking home a 2-0 win against Maryville and a scoreless draw versus Berry. The defensive unit stood stout in both matches, allowing just two shots in each match against the Scots and the Vikings. In the victory over Maryville,
Evan Pask netted a pass from
Isaac Torres in the ninth minute of the season, and
Ayden Cass doubled the advantage with a penalty goal in the 64th minute.
Since 2004, Salisbury (1-1-1) owns a 2-4-1 edge in the series with Lynchburg. Last time these two sides met was in 2013 at a neutral site in Woodbridge, Va., where the Hornets claimed a 2-1 victory. The SeaGulls this season have one tally in each of the results columns, most recently falling to No. 8 Dickinson, 2-0.
Lynchburg last squared off against St. Mary's (2-1-0)Â over 25 years ago on Oct. 3, 1999, which resulted in a 1-0 triumph for the Hornets. Last time out, the Seahawks dropped their match against Catholic, 4-1.
This is the final away swing for the Hornets before their home opening next weekend, where they will meet Regent on Shellenberger Field on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m.
