FOREST, Va. -- University of Lynchburg forward
Jamarcus Brown has been named the ODAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performances over the past two games, the league office announced Monday afternoon, Jan. 12.
The Hornets secured two conference victories last week, both in dominant fashion. Lynchburg opened the week on the road at Eastern Mennonite in Yoder Arena, where Brown led the Hornets on both ends of the floor. The Danville, Va., native recorded two blocks and three steals while shooting 7-of-11 from the field to finish with 17 points. Lynchburg cruised to a 95-59 victory.
Brown and the Hornets returned to Turner Gymnasium over the weekend for another ODAC matchup against Shenandoah. The sophomore forward extended his stretch of double-digit scoring with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Defensively, Brown added one block and pulled down six rebounds as Lynchburg limited Shenandoah to 38% shooting from the field in a 78-65 win.
The honor marks the second ODAC Athlete of the Week award for Lynchburg this season and the second for Brown, who also earned recognition on Nov. 24. The Hornets continue conference play on the road this week, traveling to Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, Jan. 14, and Hampden-Sydney on Saturday, Jan. 17.
