LIGONIER, Pa. — The University of Lynchburg men's golf team finished seventh at the Tartan Invitational, highlighted by a top-10 individual performance from Cooper Mizelle at Laurel Valley Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Hornets posted rounds of 307, 291 and 302 to finish the 54-hole tournament at 36-over 900.
Cooper Mizelle led the way for Lynchburg, finishing tied for seventh individually at 3-over 219. Mizelle capped off his tournament with a 3-over 75 in the final round, recording four birdies throughout the afternoon. After making the turn at 3-over 39, Mizelle found his rhythm on the back nine, carding an even-par 36. The Junior collected birdies on the fifth, seventh, 12th and 14th holes to secure his top-10 placement.
Ben Chamberlin followed with a top-30 finish, tying for 30th at 9-over 225. Chamberlin closed the tournament with a 3-over 75, highlighted by five birdies in his final round. The Senior got off to a strong start with three birdies on the front nine, making the turn at 2-under 34.
Dylan Olinger and Bryce Jones finished tied for 40th at 12-over 228. Olinger carded a 3-over 75 in the final round, recording four birdies, including three across his opening nine holes. The Junior made the turn at 2-under 34 before closing with a 41 on the back nine. Jones rounded out his tournament with a 5-over 77 in the final round. The Junior collected a pair of birdies, highlighted by a birdie on the par-3 fifth hole, before finishing his back nine at 3-over 39.
Dylan Johnson rounded out the Lynchburg lineup, finishing tied for 61st at 19-over 235. Johnson closed the tournament with a 5-over 77, highlighted by three birdies on the back nine. After making the turn at 5-over 41, Johnson responded with an even-par 36 across his final nine holes.
Emory captured the team title at 11-over 875.
The Hornets continue their fall season as they head to Springfield, Ohio for the Jeff Roope Invitational.
