Norman, Okla. – The University of Lynchburg men's golf team secured 21st with 87 points in the Preseason 2026-27 Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Coaches Poll, released by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Friday.
The Hornets boasted a top-five finisher at the NCAA Championships in back-to-back seasons, headlined by Eddie Coffren V's individual national title in 2025. Lynchburg also claimed team victories at the ODAC Championships in 2024 and 2025.
Following the 2026 season, the Hornets returned eight golfers on the men's side and added first-year Winston Thomas to the roster. Cooper Mizelle, Dylan Olinger and Ben Chamberlin received All-ODAC honors last season, while Mizelle placed 16th at the 2026 ODAC Championships.
Three ODAC schools earned a position inside the preseason top 25; Washington & Lee claimed the No. 8 ranking, Guilford earned No. 22, and Bridgewater joined Hampden-Sydney in the "receiving votes" category.
Lynchburg will begin the 2026-27 campaign on Monday, Sept. 14 as the team competes at the Gate City Invitational, a two-day event hosted by Greensboro College.
