Forest, Va. -- After impressive performances against Roanoke this past weekend, University of Lynchburg women's swimmer
Sydney Weeks was named as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Weeks was a top performer for Lynchburg in the 200-35 win over the Maroons, setting the fastest marks of the season across the conference in multiple measurements. Her 24.50 leadoff split in the 200-yard freestyle relay counted as the quickest 50-yard freestyle time in the ODAC this year. She alongside teammates
Gracie Maughan,
Ashlyn Zeier, and
Lilly Pifer won the relay.Â
The sophomore also was a contributor to a winning 200-yard medley relay squad. As the third leg of the relay, Weeks produced a 24.98 split to help her group (
DJ Lee, Maughan, and
Sienna Schmeck)Â finish in 1:50.59.
Additionally, she swam to victory in the 100-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle. Those 100- and 200-yard times also were the fastest amongst conference competition this season as she touched in 53.38 in the 100 and 1:58.39 in the 200.
This is Lynchburg's first swimming athlete of the week award this season. Last year, the Hornets had three ODAC athlete of the week nods, two from
Jackson Holsten and one from
Sienna Schmeck.
The Hornets jump right back into action this weekend as Washington and Lee visits Lynchburg, Va. on Saturday, October 31 at noon.
