FOREST, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball forward
Jamarcus Brown has continued his dominant sophomore campaign, receiving his third ODAC weekly award this season, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Brown is the first-ever Lynchburg men's basketball player to win four weekly awards in the same season.
The Hornets seized two major conference victories this past week, continuing their recent hot streak of five wins in their past six games. Lynchburg defeated Hampden-Sydney in their midweek matchup, 77-67, followed by a weekend win over EMU, 72-60.
Coming off a career-high 36 points against the Averett Cougars, Brown picked up right where he left off the week prior. Against the Tigers, Brown delivered another 30-point outburst on 12-of-16 shooting from the floor and cashed in on two three-pointers. Defensively, the Danville, Va. native notched two steals, two blocks, and seven total rebounds. Brown's rim protection helped hold HSC to a 32.3 field goal percentage, the fifth-lowest mark by an opposing team this season.
Over the weekend, Brown showed no signs of slowing down. Against the Royals, the sophomore forward recorded 26 points on nine-of-13 shooting with two triples. On the other end of the floor, Brown notched three blocks, one steal, and corralled a total of nine boards.
Brown is second in the conference this season in scoring with 20.3 PPG, scoring in double figures in every game this year. He also holds first place in FG% (.582), rebounding (7.7 RPG), and blocks (1.8 BPG).
