Forest, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's basketball student-athlete
Jamarcus Brown was selected as the ODAC Defensive Player of the Year and named to the All-ODAC First Team, announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Confirmed by the elite accolades, Brown cemented himself as one of the best players across the ODAC and Division III this season. The forward earns the first ODAC Player of the Year honor for the Lynchburg men's basketball program since 1980 when E.D. Schechterly received the award for the second consecutive season. He became the first performer in program history to earn four ODAC Player of the Week awards in a single season.Â
The Danville, Va. product ranked atop the statistical leaderboards in many significant categories. On the defensive end, he led the ODAC in blocks per game with 1.7, a mark that was .3 higher than the next closest ODAC competitor and tied for ninth-best in program history. Additionally, he ranked second in rebound average with 7.4 boards per affair.
He was an offensive producer all season as well, averaging the third-most points per game in the league with 20.7 per outing, the seventh-best scoring average in Lynchburg men's basketball history. The sophomore was an efficient shooter, hitting at a .568-percent clip, which was the second-best in the conference and ninth-highest in the school record books.
