Jefferson City, Tenn. -- The University of Lynchburg beach volleyball team took a trip down south to Carson-Newman for four matches in two days, coming away with a win against Regent, two losses to Carson-Newman, and one defeat versus Liberty.
On Friday, the Hornets (6-7)Â delivered a dominant performance against the Royals, sweeping Regent 5-0 with victories on every court.
Amanda Trapp and
Kailey Keough battled back after dropping the opening set to win in three, while the other four pairs secured straight-set wins. Strong showings across the lineup sealed the decisive team victory.
Lynchburg followed up by facing a tough matchup against Carson-Newman and fell 5-0 despite a competitive effort on court one.

Lynchburg returned to the sand against Carson-Newman on Saturday but again came up short as the Eagles claimed a 5-0 result. Several courts featured competitive sets, including close second-set scores on courts one and two, but Carson-Newman controlled each matchup to secure the dual victory. Additionally, the Hornets squared off against Liberty later on Saturday and fell, 4-1.
The Hornets return to action on Tuesday, welcoming Lancaster Bible and Salem to the home beach courts for a round-robin style tournament on Tuesday, March 17. Lynchburg faces Lancaster Bible at noon, then after LBC and Salem square off at 2 p.m., the Hornets matchup against Salem at 4 p.m.
