Lynchburg, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg beach volleyball team traveled across town to Liberty University to take on Lancaster Bible and Liberty on Friday. Lynchburg split the day, defeating Lancaster Bible, 5-0, then falling to Liberty, 4-1.
Against the Chargers, the Hornets swept all matches.
Kailey Keough and
Amanda Trapp dominated the one spot, beating their opponents 21-6, 21-14.
Mady Shirey and
SJ Yanz claimed a win in the number two spot, 21-10, 21-13.
Noelle Slye and
Parker Lynch teamed up in the three spot for a 21-12, 21-8 win.
Jamie Smith and
Alexis Scipione earned a dominant 21-9, 21-7 win in the four spot, while
Lydia Nelson and
Cara Taylor completed the sweep with a 21-14, 21-12 win in the five spot.
Against the Flames, Yanz and Shirey stood victorious in the two spot with a hard-fought 21-17, 17-21, 16-14 victory. Keough and Trapp battled against tough competition in the one spot, but ultimately fell just short, losing 26-24, 29-27. Slye and Lynch fell 21-18, 21-14 in the three spot, while Smith and Scipione dropped 21-12, 21-15 in the four spot. Lynchburg wrapped up competition for the day with Nelson and Taylor falling 21-17, 21-17 in the five spot.
The Hornets return to action tomorrow at Liberty, taking on Southern Virginia at 1 p.m.
