Forest, Va. -- University of Lynchburg men's lacrosse players
Eric Allen and
Riley Hastings earned both of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Athlete of the Week awards following stellar performances in a road win at Salisbury this weekend, announced by the conference office on Monday.
As a group, Lynchburg took down then-ranked No. 2 Salisbury at SeaGull stadium and delivered the SeaGulls their first home loss in the regular season in seven years. Allen was tabbed the Defensive Athlete of the Week while Hastings was named the Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Allen was a key contributor to Lynchburg's victory, notching a career-high 15 saves en route to the win. He tallied nine first-half saves and helped hold Salisbury to a season-low 11 goals. Hastings quarterbacked the offense with a team-best four points on a hat trick and one assist. His four points pushed him above 200 career points and he now sits at 10th in the Lynchburg record books for total points.
The Hornets have another top-tier competition on deck as RV Denison is set to visit Shellenberger Field on Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m.
