SALEM, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's volleyball team fell in three straight sets (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) to the Roanoke Maroons on Saturday afternoon.
Mason Kenna and Joshua Davis led the Hornets offensively with eight kills apiece, while Nick Redding added four. Jourdin Filimaua chipped in three kills on a .167 hitting percentage and anchored the front row with a team-high five total blocks. Kenna also contributed at the net with two block assists.
Will Radi paced the offense with 15 assists and added four digs, tying for the team lead alongside Kenna and Davis. Bryce Jackson recorded Lynchburg's lone service ace.
As a team, Lynchburg totaled 29 kills on 77 attempts, finishing with a .039 hitting percentage.
The opening set saw the Hornets record 11 kills, with Kenna and Davis combining for five, but 10 attack errors limited momentum as Lynchburg hit .033 in the frame and dropped the set 25-18.
Lynchburg stayed within striking distance in the second, again posting 18 points. The Hornets tallied eight kills in the set, with contributions spread across the lineup, but were held to a -.038 hitting percentage as errors continued to disrupt sustained runs.
In the third, Lynchburg showed its most efficient stretch, hitting .143 with seven kills and just four errors. Kenna and Filimaua helped pace the offense, but the Hornets were unable to overcome an early deficit as the match closed at 25-14.
Lynchburg returns to play with another ODAC road affair on Wednesday, April, 1, against the Averett Cougars.
