Men's and Women's Tennis Take Down Gordon To Wrap Up Spring Tennis Fest

Hilton Head Island, S.C. -- The University of Lynchburg men's and women's tennis teams concluded the Spring Tennis Fest with victories over Gordon on Thursday evening, both securing 6-1 triumphs.

The women's team opened the match by sweeping doubles play. Isadora Lima and Kayla Kosiorek earned a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Ashley Hair and Giovana Gaboardi matched that score with a 6-2 win at No. 2. Gabriella Rivero and Harper Dodd completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 result at No. 3.

In singles competition, Lynchburg secured wins in five of six matches. Kayla Kosiorek recorded a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles, and Giovana Gaboardi followed with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3. Ashley Hair added a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 4, while Harper Dodd earned a win by opponent retirement after leading 6-0, 3-0 at No. 5. Maggie Wonderling completed a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6. Gordon's lone point came at No. 1 singles in a match that finished 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

The men's team also swept doubles to begin the match. Ricards Spaks and Patricio Zepeda won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, Nicholas Pierreux and Daniel Gomes secured a 6-2 victory at No. 2, and Alexandre Gaboardi and Alvaro Quiroga Amaya added a 6-1 win at No. 3.

Lynchburg then claimed five singles matches. Ricards Spaks won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1, while Nicholas Pierreux earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2. Alexandre Gaboardi recorded a 6-1, 6-3 result at No. 3, Sebastian Sierra won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5, and Daniel Gomes completed a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6. Gordon picked up its point at No. 4 singles in a three-set match decided by a 10-7 tiebreak.

The men's team will return to action against Averett on Sunday, March 15 at 1 p.m. while the women's squad will host Southern Virginia on Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m.
