LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The University of Lynchburg men's volleyball team returned to the win column in a big way Friday night, sweeping a doubleheader against Shenandoah at Turner Gymnasium. The Hornets claimed both matches by identical 3–1 scores, snapping a three-match losing streak and picking up a pair of ODAC victories.
Match One: Lynchburg 3, Shenandoah 1
The Hornets opened the evening by bouncing back after dropping the first set, 25–21. Lynchburg quickly regrouped and took control of the match, winning the next three sets 25–20, 25–19, and 27–25.
Lynchburg finished with 49 kills and a .198 hitting percentage, while also applying pressure from the service line with 10 aces.
Joshua Davis led the Hornets with 16 kills, while Bryce Jackson added 13 kills, four aces, and eight blocks in a strong all-around effort. Mason Kenna chipped in nine kills and three blocks.
Setter Will Radi orchestrated the offense with 43 assists, while Brayden Berardo and Radi each recorded eight digs.
Match Two: Lynchburg 3, Shenandoah 1
Lynchburg carried that momentum into the nightcap, taking the opening two sets 25–18 and 25–23 before Shenandoah forced a fourth set with a 25–19 win in the third. The Hornets responded immediately, closing the match 25–23 to complete the sweep.
The Hornets were even more efficient offensively in the second match, totaling 55 kills with a .244 hitting percentage and adding 10 team blocks.
Davis once again paced Lynchburg with 17 kills, while Nick Redding added 10 kills and six blocks. Jourdyn Filimaua contributed eight kills and six blocks.
Radi recorded 30 assists, and Miller Varley added 14. Defensively, Berardo led the Hornets with 12 digs, while Redding added 10.
Lynchburg returns to action Saturday for another slate of matches in Turner Gymnasium. The Hornets will host Averett in another ODAC match before closing the weekend with a non-conference match against Regent
